2024: Global greenfield investment trends in tourism
Foreign investors announcedatotal of 1943 FDI projects in the tourism cluster between 2019 and 2023 according to fDi Markets, the greenfield investment monitor of the Financial Times. These projects garnered an estimated $106.7bn in capital investment and created an estimated 259,800 jobs.
2023: Global greenfield investment trends in tourism
Foreign investors announced a total of 2415 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in the tourism cluster between 2018 and 2022 according to fDi Markets, the greenfield investment monitor of the Financial Times. These projects involved a total capital investment of $175.5bn and created an estimated 388,000 jobs.
2020: Global greenfield investment trends in tourism
The tourism cluster posted a very strong FDI performance in 2019, with 715 greenfield projects announced, an 10.3% increase from 2018 and the peak year for tourism projects since fDi Markets began recording data in 2003.

Tourism FDI peaked in 2018, when 613 greendield projects were announced, as well as the creation of almost 140,000 jobs and more than $57bn in investment.
2018: Global greenfield investment trends in tourism
A total of 467 FDI projects were announced into Asia-Pacific between 2013 and 2017. This resulted in $37.8bn-worth of capital investment and over 73,000 jobs created.
