Evento temático de alto nivel sobre Turismo – Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas
En el marco de la Semana de la Sostenibilidad, el Presidente de la Asamblea General convoca durante el 78º período de sesiones, y en cooperación con ONU Turismo, un evento temático de alto nivel sobre turismo.
Como uno de los mayores sectores del mundo, el turismo es uno de los principales motores del crecimiento económico y del desarrollo social y cultural, además de su importante aportación a la creación de puestos de trabajo dignos y a la iniciativa empresarial. Para muchos países en desarrollo, el sector turístico es una importante fuente de empleo, así como de ingresos por divisas e impuestos.
El evento tiene como objetivo avanzar en una posición común al más alto nivel para fortalecer la resiliencia del turismo y maximizar la contribución del sector a la agenda de sostenibilidad. El evento ofrece a Estados Miembros, observadores, sociedad civil, al sistema de las Naciones Unidas en su conjunto y a otras partes implicadas una plataforma para debatir estrategias, compartir buenas prácticas y experiencias con el fin de promover un turismo sostenible y resiliente que contribuya a la consecución de los ODS.
